This Privacy Policy explains how Screen Door Company (a division of Caruso Consulting Co Ltd, "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you visit flyscreendoor.shop or buy from us.

The privacy law that applies

In Canada, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) sets the rules for how businesses handle personal information in the course of commercial activity. We aim to handle your information in line with it.

Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia have their own private-sector privacy laws. In some cases those laws apply instead of PIPEDA, depending on where you live and how your information is handled.

Information we collect

• When you place an order: your name, email address, phone number, delivery address, any order notes, what you bought, the delivery method you chose, any discount code you used, and the amount you paid.
• Payment information: card payments are handled by Stripe Checkout and PayPal payments by PayPal, on their own systems. We receive confirmation that the payment went through and a payment reference. We never receive or store your card details.
• When you contact us: your name, email address, your message and anything you choose to include, whether you email us or use our contact, custom size quote, wholesale, drop ship or review feedback forms.
• When you use the chat assistant: the messages you type into it.
• When you browse: our hosting provider handles your IP address and basic details of each request so it can deliver pages to you. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics also records things like the pages you visit and your device and browser type.

How we use your information

• To process, pack and deliver your order, and to send your order confirmation and shipping emails.
• To answer your questions and handle quotes, returns, refunds and complaints.
• To prevent fraud and keep the store secure.
• To understand how the site is used so we can improve it, where you have accepted analytics cookies.
• To keep the business and accounting records the law requires.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, trade or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers we need to run the store, and only what each one needs:

• Stripe and PayPal, who take your payment.
• Vercel, who hosts this website and runs our checkout.
• Supabase, where our order records are stored.
• Resend, who sends our order emails.
• The warehouse, supplier and courier that pack and deliver your order, who receive the details needed to deliver it, such as your name, delivery address and phone number.
• Google, for Google Analytics (only if you accept analytics cookies) and Google Ads measurement. Our pages also load their typefaces from Google Fonts.
• IntellextAI, who provides the chat assistant on our pages.
• 17TRACK, which receives the tracking number you enter on our order tracking page.
• Our form system, served from app-marketing-command-centre.vercel.app, which receives what you send through our enquiry and feedback forms.

We may also disclose your information where we are required or authorised by law to do so.

Information stored or processed outside Canada

Our company and some of our team are based outside Canada, and several of the service providers above store or process information outside Canada. While your information is in another country, the courts, law enforcement and other authorities there may be able to access it under that country's laws.

Cookies and browser storage

Your cart, any discount code you apply and your delivery choice are kept in your own browser's local storage, not on our servers. Google Analytics only loads after you accept it in our cookie banner. The full detail is on our Cookie Policy page.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as we need them for business and accounting purposes. When we no longer need personal information for the purpose it was collected for, we take reasonable steps to delete it or permanently de-identify it.

Your rights

• Ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask for a copy of it. We do not charge for an access request.
• Ask us to correct information that is wrong, incomplete or out of date.
• Withdraw your consent to some uses of your information, such as marketing emails.
• Ask us to delete personal information we hold about you, except information we must keep for legal, accounting or security reasons.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can try to fix it. You also have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca, or to the privacy commissioner of your province where its own privacy law applies.

Keeping it secure

This site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and your card details are handled by Stripe and PayPal rather than by us. We store your personal information in a way that reasonably protects it from misuse, loss and unauthorized access.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
